Situated in the Uwharrrie mountains in central North Carolina, the North Carolina Zoo is one of America's finest Zoos, and my destination of choice for a labor day-weekend getaway. Me, Esprox, my sister, and her friend went to this 500+ acre zoo on sunday(9/2/2007) and had a blast. Armed with a Photo and a video camera, we entered on the African side of the park and made our way to the North American region. Along the way, we saw a pride of lions, a herd of Kudos (Antelopes), a mob of meerkats, a mess of Bison (not buffalo, dipsticks!), and more. We filmed a meerkat fight, a swimming polar bear (awesome!), a sleeping chimp, and a mud-bathing elephant. The zoo was a truely "Amazing" experience. If you enjoy animals and long walks, this is the place for you.

An interesting note: When going to the Africa entrance, you cross over a lake. If you look down on the water, you can see a mess of turtles and fish. These included some of the biggest snapping turtles I ever saw!
